We keep hearing about slow progress in the economy. Though some economic indicators are improving, the jobless rate in Cumberland County persists near the 10-year peak at 9.9 percent in January 2010. While improvement for banks and businesses is a positive sign, many of our friends and neighbors remain unemployed or underemployed.

To help combat this ongoing dilemma, Cumberland County Public Library & Information Center has instituted several changes to help job seekers. Each library branch now features a Career Center offering books for those seeking employment and educational opportunities. Computers are available to search online job listings and for career guidance.
