  • AARP/RSVP is offering free tax preparation help.

Starting February 1st, there will be two sites:

Fayetteville Senior Citizens Center, 739 Blue Street--First come, first served

Fayetteville Urban Ministry, 701 Whitfield Street--Appointments required

  • Low- to moderate-income taxpayers may qualify for free or low-cost federal and state tax preparation assistance through the Internal Revenue Service's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program. To learn more about the program, use the link below.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program

  • Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Fayetteville offers free tax help in their offices at 316 Green Street. Call 323-3192, extension 21 for an appointment Mon-Fri, from 9-2. Saturdays are walk in only, no appointments. They will not prepare schedule C,D or E.

This is the ONLY authorized online source for you to get a free credit report under federal law. You can get a free report from each of the three national credit reporting companies every 12 months. Warning: Some other sites claim to offer "free" credit reports, but may charge you for another product if you accept a "free" report.

Commonly Requested North Carolina Tax Forms

As part of the N.C. Department of Revenue's efforts to reduce printing costs and encourage electronic filing, the agency will not provide tax forms to public facilities like libraries and post offices this year. To order forms, call 1-877-252-3052 or use this link to request them online.
