Your library card is your passport to the world of information available at the public library. Library cards are free for those who live or own property in Cumberland County, Fort Bragg or Pope Air Force Base, and they're easy to get. Your library card can be used at each library location and for Mobile Outreach Service. |

Yes, non-residents of Cumberland County can get library cards to check out materials and use the library computers. The non-resident fee is $25 per year.
Non-residents can also get a Temporary Computer Use Card free of charge. These cards are good for 30 days and are renewable upon expiration. A photo ID is required.
Yes, you do not need a regular library card to use the computers. However, you will need to apply for a temporary computer use only card which is valid for 30 days. You will need a photo ID to apply for this card. These cards can be used at any Cumberland County library.
Yes, with regular use a library card expires annually. You will need to visit a library to update your card. It is not necessary to get a new card unless it is lost. You will need to verify your address to update the card. Please bring proof of address when updating your card.
If you have not used your library card to check out items within 3 years, your library account will be purged from our system. At this point you will need to apply for a new card.
Children of Cumberland County residents are eligible for a free library card. Children 15 and under will need to have a parent or guardian present when applying for a library card. The responsible adult will need to present a photo ID and proof of current address in Cumberland County.
Children may obtain a regular or juvenile library card with approval from a parent or guardian.
Regular Library card: (under 15) may check out materials from all collections and use the adult computer lab. *No one under 18 can check out DVDs.
Juvenile Library card: may only check out material from the juvenile area only and use the computers in the juvenile area.
No, it is not necessary for everyone in your household to have their own library card. The adult named in the library card account will be held financially responsible for all materials that are overdue, lost, or damaged even if they are not present with the items are checked out.
However, the library card can only be used to sign on to the computers one at a time and all time limits apply. If more than one person in your family will need to use the computers during a single visit, we advise getting library cards for all of your family members.
