There are several ways to get help...

Have a question? Text us! We now offer free text message reference services (standard message rates apply). Text "ccplinfo" to 66746. When you receive the confirmation message, hit reply and ask your question. We will respond as soon as possible.

This service is available 9am - 9pm Monday - Thursday, 9am-6pm Friday and Saturday, and 2pm - 6pm on Sunday. Messages sent outside of service times will be answered during regular library hours.

If you have questions about your account or would like to renew items, please call your local branch or the automated renewal lines at (910) 223-0431 or (910) 223-0432, or go to the My Account/Renew page to sign in to your library card account.

Visit the Information Desk

You can get help finding information or conducting research by visiting the information desk at any library branch during operating hours.

Other services include:

  • Library tours
  • Inter-Library Loan of materials
  • Readers' Advisory service
  • Fax service of articles and information (call for more information)
  • Public photocopiers and FAX machines
  • Printed pathfinders and bibliographies on specific subjects

Local & State History: If you need help with local history and genealogy research, visit or call the Local & State History Department located on the second floor of the Headquarters Library.

Law Library: The Law Library is located on the third floor of the Cumberland County Courthouse and is open to the public. Information and assistance is available on state statutes, legal decisions, court cases, and written interpretations of the law, but IN NO CASE IS STAFF ABLE TO INTERPRET THE LAW OR PROVIDE LEGAL ADVICE.

Internet Access

  • Public access computers are available at each branch.
  • Printing is also available and requires the purchase
    of a Venda card.
  • Print costs are .10/page black and white/ .30 page color.
  • All computers have MS Office 2007, including Word,
    PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Time limits apply to computer usage. Click here for more info.
  • Use of public computers is on a first-come, first-served basis
    at all branches to holders of valid library cards
  • Temporary residents and visitors may attain a free 30 day
    Temporary Computer Use card.

Book a Librarian

Do you want to learn more about how to… Create and use your own e-mail account? Get started with a school assignment? Use a word processor? Download e-books or classical music? Search the Internet?

Book a one on one session for up to 45 minutes. Sessions must be booked in advance by calling the location. Customers are limited to two sessions per month.

CALL YOUR BRANCH INFORMATION DESK FOR AN APPOINTMENT

Skype

The Headquarters library has a computer with a webcam and Skype for use by deaf and hearing impaired persons, people calling deaf or hearing impaired persons, military personnel who are away from their families, and military family members calling soldiers who are elsewhere. Reservations for the computer are required and can be made by either calling the Headquarters information desk or by coming to the desk in person.
