Please be advised that due to the recent decline in the North Carolina Unemployment Rate, the state no longer meets the Federal and State requirements of the Extended Benefits Program. In accordance with Federal and State law, the Employment Security Commission cannot pay any Extended Benefit claims for weeks later than April 16, 2011. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unemployment Benefits
The North Carolina Employment Security Commission offers online unemployment information and filing. Unemployment benefits are based on combinations of federal and state statutes.
Health Insurance
The federal law, Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA), allows qualified employees to continue their health insurance benefits, at their expense. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) provides for a 65% reduction in COBRA premiums for certain assistance eligible individuals for up to 9 months.
