Alexander Graham High School
In 1924, a new high school building was added to the Fayetteville Graded Schools on McGilvary Street. The building was named in honor of Alexander Graham. The site of the Alexander Graham High School building was formerly known as the John H. Hall Place. The Alexander Graham building, designed for 420 students, had 11 classrooms, a 400- seat all purpose room, and three special rooms. In 1940, the Alexander Graham Building was turned into a junior high school.

Alexander Graham Junior Hight School
In 1940, the Alexander Graham Building was turned into a junior high school. The school operated as a junior high school until 1977.

Antioch Colored School
Antioch Colored School located in the Linden area, Carver’s Creek Township. This school was built with Rosenwald funds prior to 1929. Mary E. Gordon Sawyer and Ethelind Smith taught here during the 1931-1932 school year.

Armstrong High School
Built to accommodate students on the east side of the Cape Fear River in the Eastover Township and initially referred to as “Cumberland County Training School for Negroes”, Armstrong High School opened in October 1935. The school contained four rooms and about 150 students. Due to an increase in enrollment, another room was added in 1936. In 1942 the school was destroyed by fire and a modern building was erected. In 1950, eight classrooms, an auditorium and a physical education room were added.

Ashley Heights Colored School
The school is named for Mr. Ashley who donated the land and part of a three room building. The frame structure consisted of seven classrooms and indoor restrooms. Eight teachers had to serve on a double - shift schedule due to heavy enrollment. Future plans were to build a 13-15 teacher school and consolidate Ashley with Pearce’s Mill Colored School.

This school closed when Lewis Chapel School was built in 1950.

Beaver Dam School
A ceremony for the opening of this school was held in May 1923. The school was located on the Wilmington Road, 23 miles southeast of Fayetteville. 169 students were enrolled when the school first opened. G.R. Daughtry was principal and A.D. Harris, Maude Coates, Eulee Herring, and Lizzie Mae Hall served as teachers. When the enrollment of high school students decreased, the students were transferred to Stedman. In 1928, Beaver Dam became an elementary school.
