Guidelines for Submitting a question
We perform lookups in any of the books or microfilm in our collection; however, we cannot provide extensive research. The more specific your question, the better chance we have of finding the answer. We will also attempt to answer any question of a historical nature regarding Cumberland County or North Carolina.
We do not offer general family research. For example, we can’t send everything we have on “John Smith” and his family. However, if “John Smith” has a marriage record in Cumberland County, we will check for you. A date of death is required for obituaries. The newspaper is not indexed and cannot be searched by name only. We may be able to assist you in finding a date of death if you are unable to locate one.
We do not charge for lookups and will send up to five copies for free. Each additional copy is 15 cents plus postage.
If you live in Cumberland County, we ask that you visit us in person so that we will better serve you.
If you need assistance for further research, we have compiled a list of local researchers. We provide this as a courtesy for our customers and do not endorse anyone on this list.
