Part Time Library Associate (Youth Services) #LIB0206
This position provides reference and information assistance and readers’ advisory services to customers; instructs and assists customers in use of the Internet. This position is responsible for performing intermediate services at information and/or youth services desks. Plans and coordinates youth programs for specific age groups under the direction and supervision of a librarian.
Location: East Regional branch library
Requirements: Graduation from a four-year college or university and one year of relevant public library experience or progressive customer relations experience in the public sector; or Associate’s degree in Library and Information Technology and two years of relevant public library experience or; an Associate’s degree and three years of relevant public library experience or progressive customer relations experience in the public sector or; graduation from high school and five years of relevant public library experience or progressive customer relations experience in the public sector; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Library experience or experience working with youth is preferred.
Current salary is: $15.74/hr (19 hours a week)

Information Services Librarian I/Local & State History, #LIB0058
An employee in this position is responsible for providing advanced library services to customers in the Local and State History Department and at Information Services Department service points. Responsible for the supervision, training, and scheduling of staff. Provides one-on-one instruction/training for customers on an appointment basis. Serves as a working member of councils and committees as assigned. Participates in collection maintenance, including weeding and discarding items and identifying and recommending replacement titles and new materials. May regularly act as Person-in-Charge in absence of Headquarters Manager.

Requirements: Master of Library Science degree (MLS)
Trainee candidates must have completed at least 75% of required course work towards a MLS and submit a letter from the dean of the library school that states the number of credit hours already obtained and that the candidate can complete all master’s degree requirements within twelve months.
Experience or coursework in genealogy or family history research methods is preferred

Youth Services Librarian II, # LIB0050
An employee in this position is responsible for the supervision, training and scheduling of youth services staff within a library youth services department. The employee is required to provide reference service and readers’ advisory in youth literature. Develops and presents programs for youth from birth through grade 12. May act as supervisor in charge on a regular basis in the absence of the manager.
Location: Cliffdale Branch Library
Requirements: Master of Library Science degree (MLS) with 18 months experience as a MLS professional librarian in a public library. Six months supervisory experience preferred.
Trainee candidates must have at least 12 months experience as a MLS professional librarian in a public library.
North Carolina Public Library Certification within 18 months of employment.
Experience in providing services to youth is preferred.
