Department IT Support Technician I # LIB0014

An employee in this position provides technical assistance to library departments and employees regarding personal computers, software programs, telephonic equipment, audiovisual, printers, and other computer peripherals. Assistance is provided in the form of installation, repair, maintenance, and training. Employee assists with editing and updating of library website. Ability to demonstrate hardware and software operation and effective communication skills are needed. Work is performed under the supervision of the Department IT Support Technician II and is evaluated by observation of overall implementation of assigned duties.

Location: Headquarters Library

Requirements: Two year degree in computer science or related field supplemented by three (3) years’ experience and/or training that includes PC repair and installation, network configuration, printer repair and installation, software installs (server and client based), systems troubleshooting and managing devices on a Windows domain using Active Directory; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Additional Training/Experience
Preference will be given to applicants with certification in A+, Network+, MCSA/MCSE and CCNA.

Current salary is: $32,731/yr.

LIBRARIAN I/INFORMATION SERVICES #LIB0011 & LIB0062

Employees in this position are responsible for providing advanced library services to customers at the Information Service desk. Responsible for the supervision, training, and scheduling of staff. May regularly act as Person-in-Charge in absence of branch manager.

Requirements: Master of Library Science degree (MLS) required.

Trainee applicants must have completed at least 75% of required course work towards a MLS and submit a letter from the dean of the library school that states the number of credit hours already obtained and that the candidate can complete all master's degree requirements within twelve months.

Current salary is: $37,580.00 /Year

Deputy Library Director #LIB0002

An employee in this position performs administrative and managerial work in directing the activities and services of the public library. The Deputy Director assists in directing the activities of the entire library and serves in the absence of the Director. The Deputy Director oversees the day-to-day operation of the library with a focus on public services, policy and procedures. The Deputy Director is responsible for data gathering and analysis as well as reporting on whether the library is meeting its goals and objectives. This position will implement actions or decisions that will achieve such goals and objectives. The Deputy Director works with the Director and the Director's Management Teams in making decisions and setting procedures for the library as a whole, and performs related work as required.

Location: Headquarters Library

Requirements: Master of Library Science degree (MLS) required. Applicant must have seven (7) years of experience as a library professional in a public library system, including five (5) years supervisory experience working with all levels of library staff.

Equivalent Training
MLS with five (5) years of experience as a library professional in a public library system combined with a professional degree (Masters level or higher) in another field and two (2) years public service experience to include considerable supervisory experience. Trainee status may be considered.

North Carolina Public Library Certification within 18 months of employment.

Current salary is: $61,839/yr.
