Librarian I (Youth Services) Position # LIB0072

Provides advanced library services to customers at youth services desks by answering reference questions and assisting youth, parents, and caregivers with the selection of material. Develops and presents age-appropriate programs for youth, birth through grade 12. Assists in youth collection development.

Location: Cliffdale Library

Requirements: Master of Library Science degree (MLS) required.

Preferred candidates will have educational background or experience in Youth Services.

Trainee Applicants must have completed at least 75% of required course work towards a MLS and submit a letter from the dean of the library school that states the number of credit hours already obtained and that the candidate can complete all master’s degree requirements within twelve months.

North Carolina Public Library Certification within 18 months of employment.

Current salary is: $37,025/yr.

Librarian II (Emerging Adult Services Specialist) Position # LIB0110

Assists the Programs & Services Coordinator in the coordination of system-wide Youth
Services. Assists in the development of a strong service area for customers, ages 13 to 23. Job duties include developing and coordinating programs and services that focus on the information and recreational needs of teens and new adults.

Requirements: Master of Library Science degree (MLS) required.

Equivalent Training: Master’s degree in related field and four years’ experience in a K-12 educational institution or public library youth services department accepted; or Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science followed by six years’ experience in a K-12 educational institution or public library youth services department.

North Carolina Public Library Certification within 18 months of employment.

Current salary is: $40,524/yr.

LIBRARIAN II (Library Awareness Coordinator) #LIB0067

Assesses current and future needs of the community and library services, cultivating, managing and sustaining strategic partnerships that increase the library’s capacity to reach underserved populations. Responsible for the design, development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of services for those community members unable to access, or unaware of, library services through traditional methods.

Requirements: Master of Library Science degree (MLS) required. Must have 18 to 24 months experience as MLS professional librarian in a public library. Must obtain North Carolina Public Library Certification within 18 months of employment.

Trainee candidates must have at least 12 month experience as a MLS professional librarian in a public library.
