An employee in this position provides customer assistance at multiple service points as assigned. Independent judgment is necessary in assisting customers with information and materials selection. Performs proactive reference at the service desk and assists customers with information and technology resources. Assists customers with self-services checkout and account information at Circulation desk and trains the public in the use of library resources and equipment.

Requirements: Graduation from a four-year college or university and one year of relevant public library experience or progressive customer relations experience in the public sector.

Equivalent Training
Associate’s degree in Library and Information Technology and two years of relevant public library experience or; an Associate’s degree and three years of relevant public library experience or progressive customer relations experience in the public sector or; graduation from high school and five years of relevant public library experience or progressive customer relations experience in the public sector; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

LIBRARIAN II YOUTH SERVICES #117000046

An employee in this position is required to provide reference service and readers’ advisory in youth literature. Develops and presents programs for youth from birth through grade 12. May act as supervisor in charge on a regular basis in the absence of the manager. Works with other YS Librarian II’s under the direction of the Division Manager for Youth Services to plan and implement new services and programs for youth. May be assigned system-wide responsibilities such as grant management, new service development, or ordering materials.

Requirements: Master of Library Science degree (MLS) with 18 months experience as a MLS professional librarian in a public library. Six months supervisory experience preferred. Experience in providing services to youth is preferred.

Librarian IV/Regional Branch Manager #117000038

An employee in this position is responsible for performing complex professional library work and administering a Regional Branch Library. Hires, supervises, trains, and evaluates department managers and branch staff to ensure policies and procedures are followed and library goals are met. Oversees all branch services including Information and Outreach Services, Youth Services, Circulation Services and Paging. Chairs task forces and/or ongoing committees and oversees special projects as assigned; e.g. grant-writing. Participates in budget preparation process by submitting recommendations for equipment, personnel and supplies.

Custodian Position Roster #OPEN

The major objective of this position is to perform building and grounds maintenance in order to keep the Library facilities clean, attractive and functioning efficiently. An employee in this position
is responsible for sweeping, mopping and using vacuum cleaners to clean floors; washing walls, windows, woodwork and fixtures; and policing building to empty trash receptacles and pick up of debris, etc. Dusts and cleans desks and other furniture; cleans and sanitizes restrooms using established practices and procedures; strips wax, waxes and buffs floor surfaces, etc. Assists with the setup of meetings and events at the library.

Requirements: Completion of eighth grade and six months work experience to include some janitorial and/or maintenance duties in an office or commercial environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
