Librarian II/Local & State History Manager #117000045

An employee in this position is responsible for the overall supervision of the Local and State History Department, including management of the collection, and supervision, training, and scheduling of staff in the Local and State History department. Co-coordinates the supervision, training, and scheduling of IS staff for general information services. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Headquarters Services Manager. This position regularly acts as Person in Charge in the absence of the Headquarters Services Manager.

Requirements: Master of Library Science degree (MLS) and two years of professional librarian experience required.

Management Preference:
MLS professional librarian experience in a public library preferred; experience with genealogy and/or family history research resources and methods preferred; experience with archives and preservation of documents is preferred; six months supervisory experience preferred.

Trainee Qualifications:
Trainee candidates must have at least 12 months experience as a MLS professional librarian in a public library.

Salary: $43,009.80 to $44,079.00 per year

Librarian II Youth Services #117000046

An employee in this position is required to provide reference service and readers’ advisory in youth literature. Develops and presents programs for youth from birth through grade 12. May act as supervisor in charge on a regular basis in the absence of the manager. Works with other YS Librarian II’s under the direction of the Division Manager for Youth Services to plan and implement new services and programs for youth. May be assigned system-wide responsibilities such as grant management, new service development, or ordering materials.

Requirements: Master of Library Science degree (MLS) required. Must have two (2) years experience as a professional librarian. Six months supervisory experience preferred. Experience in providing services to youth is preferred.

Equivalent Training/Experience
Trainee candidates must have at least 12 months experience as a MLS professional librarian.

Special Requirements:
In this position you will be required to travel to and from multiple locations to perform some of the services and programs offered.

Librarian III/Branch Manager Position #117000237

Employee is responsible for hiring, supervising, training, evaluating, and scheduling subordinate supervisors and branch staff to ensure customers are given efficient, prompt, and competent assistance and pleasant working conditions are maintained. This position oversees all branch services and operations in accordance with policy and procedures, including Information Services, Youth Services, Circulation Services, and Paging. Hires, supervises, trains, evaluates, and schedules branch staff.

Requirements: Master's degree in Library Science and three years of professional public library experience to include one year of supervisory experience in a public library.

Equivalent Training:
Trainee candidates must have 30 months (2½ years) of professional public library experience to include six months of supervisory experience in a public library.

Management Preference:
Experience as a trainer preferred

Salary: $47,073.21 - $50,875.86 Annually

Library Circulation Manager Position #117000043

This position is located at the East Regional Branch and is responsible for managing all aspects of a Regional Branch Circulation Department to ensure work performed meets all library goals and exceptional customer service standards are maintained. Supervises, evaluates and schedules staff in the circulation department. Team work, varied schedules and library needs are essential components to ensure work performed meets departmental goals.

Requirements: Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in management, computer science, or a related field and three years of relevant supervisory public library experience or supervisory customer relations experience in the public sector; or graduation from high school and seven years of directly related public library and supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Salary: $39,295.64 Annually
