The Brilliance of Jane Austen
Professor Engel emphasizes that Jane Austen is the first great woman author in our language. He also singles out and explores the multiple perfections within her novels which have made her one of the most enduring and endearing British writers of all time. This is Engel’s 40th Anniversary of his talks at the Headquarters library and the library plans a commemoration. Tickets are $10 for the public, $5 for Friends members and $2 for students and are sold at the door, first-come, first-served.
Rosemary Wells

Best selling children's author, Rosemary Wells, will talk about the importance of reading to children in her presentation, Booking Up Our Kids. Make plans to attend this unique event featuring one of the most beloved and important children's authors. Wells will sign copies of her books after the presentation.
Jill McCorkle
Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 6 p.m. at Headquarters Library
Celebrated North Carolina author, Jill McCorkle, will talk about her works and writing process. Five of her books have been named New York Times notable books. Ms. McCorkle has received many awards including the North Carolina Award for Literature. She is a member of the Fellowship of Southern Writers. Ms. McCorkle will sign copies of her works after the presentation
