Kevin Maurer discusses how he went from covering Fort Bragg and military affairs for "The Fayetteville Observer" to co-writing the New York Times bestseller, No Easy Day: The Firsthand Account of the Mission That Killed Osama Bin Laden. Copies of Maurer's book will be available for purchase and signing.

Friends of the Library Present Dr. Elliot Engel Sunday, November 3, 2019, 3 p.m. at Headquarters Library Pate Room

A renowned expert on Victorian English literature and society, Elliot Engel returns to explore the connections between Charles Dickens, author of “A Christmas Carol,” and our ideas about Christmas customs and traditions. Dr. Engel has written extensively on the Victorian era and hosted a PBS mini-series on Charles Dickens. Since 1980 he has served as president of the Dickens Fellowship of North Carolina. He travels and lectures extensively on a wide variety of literary subjects, from Jane Austen to F. Scott Fitzgerald. Tickets sold at the door are $10 for the public, $5 for Friends members and $2 for students. First-come, first-served.
