Part Time Library Associate II (Information Services) Position Roster #LIB0209

 

Responsible for performing intermediate services at information services desks. Assists customers in person or by phone, providing information and readers advisory services. Orients and instructs the public in developing search strategies to find needed information.

Location: North Regional branch

Requirements: Four year degree from an accredited college or university with at least 18 hours in Library Science plus one year of library experience; or a four year degree from an accredited college or university plus two years of library experience or three years of customer service work; or an Associate's degree from a community college plus five years of library experience or six years of customer service work; or high school graduation or equivalency with eight years library experience or nine years customer service work. Salary is $14.81/hr.

Librarian III (Youth Services Coordinator) Position Roster # LIB0006

 

Performs complex professional library work; system-wide planning, implements and evaluates the youth services programs; responsible for collection development for customers birth through 18 years. Considerable independent judgment and initiative as well as interpersonal skills are needed to coordinate the work of others. Responsible for the supervision of subordinate staff, Assistant Youth Services and Smart Start Coordinators and offers input on the evaluations of all staff. Coordinates, develops, produces and implements policy and procedures pertaining to area of responsibility. Coordinates special services and materials grants for youth services with the Deputy Director. Develops, coordinates, and monitors system wide regular weekly programs, special events, reading programs, etc. for youth and adults interested in materials and services for this age. Develops guidelines in programming standards and assists each library facility in setting and achieving goals in programming, including the number and appropriateness of programs. Assists in ongoing assessment of the youth collection. Assesses community needs to determine library service responses in youth programs. Identifies opportunities and advocates library participation in community, state and national events that deal with youth. Serves on internal library councils.

Requirements: Master's Degree in Library Science (MLS) required. Must have three years experience as a MLS professional youth/children's librarian in a public library and one year of library supervisory experience. [Trainee candidates must have at least 30 months (2 1/2 years) experience as a MLS youth/children's librarian in a public library and six months of library supervisory experience]. Salary is $40,524/yr.
