The Friends of the Library

Our purpose is ...

  • To create awareness of the opportunities offered by the libraries of Cumberland County.

  • To focus attention on library needs and enrich the cultural advantages available to Cumberland County Citizens.

  • To increase library services and facilities.

  • To maintain an association of persons interested in books.

Friends of North Carolina Public Libraries

Friends of Libraries USA
Funds received by the Friends from dues or from special projects are used solely for library needs beyond the budget provided by Cumberland County.
Activities

  • Sponsor guest authors.

  • Provide special awards for library events.

  • Sponsor book sales.

  • Organize literary programs spotlighting North Carolina authors.

  • Work as volunteers in the library.

  • Lobby for improved library funding at the local, state and national level.

  • Conduct fund raising activities.

Book Sales

Members Only Book Sales *
* Anyone may join the Friends at the sale, and no library card is needed.

Public Book Sales
Open to the public.


Saturdays 9:30 am - 2:00 pm

The book sale entrance is at Headquarters Library, 300 Maiden Lane, through the back door near the benches by the creek. Cash or check only.


Two extra Saturday-only sales, one in June and the other in September, will be announced later! These take the place of the discard sales that used to be held by the library.
